Description

This sophisticated canine celebration cake combines wholesome ingredients like ground oats, fresh carrots, and banana to create a nutrient-dense treat. With a stable, pipeable yogurt-based frosting, you can achieve a bakery-quality aesthetic that is entirely safe for your pet.


Ingredients

  • 45g ground whole oats
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 medium banana, mashed
  • 70g xylitol-free peanut butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 140g Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp xylitol-free peanut butter (for frosting)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line two 4-inch cake tins with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Whisk the ground oats and baking powder in a large mixing bowl to ensure the leavening agent is evenly distributed.
  3. Stir in the grated carrot, mashed banana, 70g of peanut butter, and the egg until the batter is just combined and thick.
  4. Divide the mixture between the tins and bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Cool the layers completely on a wire rack before frosting with a whisked mixture of yogurt, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, and cornstarch.

Notes

Always verify that your peanut butter does not contain Xylitol, as it is highly toxic to dogs. If your yogurt frosting feels too soft for piping, adding an extra half-teaspoon of cornstarch or chilling the mixture for 10 minutes will help stabilize the emulsion for sharper lines.
