Description

Ingredients

  • 1 box (approx. 15.25 oz) cake mix (yellow, white, or chocolate)
  • Water (amount specified on the cake mix box)
  • Vegetable oil (amount specified on the cake mix box)
  • Large eggs (amount specified on the cake mix box)
  • 1 cup full-fat sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, water, oil, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract.
  3. Beat the ingredients using a hand mixer on high speed until the batter is smooth, thick, and glossy, ensuring you scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl with a spatula.
  4. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and smooth the tops with a spatula.
