Description
Celebrate Independence Day with these festive chocolate treats featuring a silky cream cheese frosting and fresh summer berries. These brownies are designed to look like a flag, making them a stunning centerpiece for any patriotic picnic or farmhouse gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 batch brownie batter (enough for a 9×13 pan)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 pint fresh strawberries, sliced lengthwise
- 1 pint fresh blueberries
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325ºF and grease a 15×11 inch jelly roll pan.
- Spread brownie batter evenly into the pan and bake for 33-37 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the brownies cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a separate chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture using a spatula.
- Spread the frosting over the cooled brownies using an offset spatula, reserving 3/4 cup for piping if desired.
- Arrange sliced strawberries in a star pattern and use blueberries to create shooting star tails across the surface.
Notes
For the cleanest slices, wipe your knife with a warm, damp cloth between every cut. If you are preparing these in advance, wait to add the fruit until just before serving to ensure the berries stay fresh and vibrant without weeping into the cream cheese base.
